Dalton thieves make off with silverware haul

Thieves have made off with goods worth more than £10,000 - including a large amount of silverware - from a house in southern Scotland.

The items were taken from a property near Dalton, in Dumfries and Galloway, some time between 19 and 26 March.

Among the goods taken were a silver candelabra, silver cups, a silver tray and wine coaster.

PC Stewart Hunter appealed for the community to help catch those responsible.

He said the house was unoccupied at the time of the break-in and asked anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area to contact the police.
