Plans have been submitted to turn a derelict farmyard steading in southern Scotland into a "unique" wedding venue.

The couple behind the proposals believe it could create more than 30 jobs and inject £2m into the local economy.

Duncan and Vicky McConchie want to convert the 200-year-old building at Laggan, near Gatehouse of Fleet.

They already run an outdoor activity centre in the area and hope to receive planning approval for the project "in the next few weeks".

Ms McConchie said the development would allow them to target "UK and Scottish corporate and wedding markets".

"The venue will combine historic charm with modern comfort, as well as luxury accommodation, all located in the most stunning, rural setting with panoramic views overlooking Mossyard Bay," she said.
