Two men have appeared in court following the theft of medals - including the Olympic gold won by Rhona Martin - from Dumfries Museum.

They are alleged to have broken into the building in April 2014 and stolen medals, a chain and a casket.

Stewart Pettigrew, 33, of Collin near Dumfries, and Charlie Walker, 24, denied the offence.

A warrant was granted for the arrest of a third accused, Luke Holland, 27, of Luton, who failed to appear.

Trial was set for August at Dumfries Sheriff Court.

Mr Walker also denied stealing a car in Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire a fortnight earlier while Mr Holland is also accused of the reset of the vehicle.
