Jewellery taken during Dumfries break-in

Thieves have made off with jewellery worth thousands of pounds during a break-in at a house in Dumfries.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident in Hardthorn Road which happened some time between Saturday and Monday.

Jewellery worth about £6,000 - including eternity rings and a gold bracelet - were taken.

PC Pauline Kirk said the break-in happened while the occupants were away from their home.

"We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have heard a burglar alarm sounding in the area at around 02:00 on Monday morning," she added.
