War medals stolen in Dumfries house break-in

German World War Two medals and jewellery worth thousands of pounds have been stolen from a house in Dumfries.

Police said it was "yet another" high value theft in the town.

A house in Loganbarns Road was broken into some time between Monday and Wednesday while it was vacant.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area around those times has been asked to come forward with information as soon as possible.

PC Scott McDowall said: "Here we have a second house this week broken into in the town while the occupants were away from home.

"Again, jewellery appears to have been the target for the thieves.

"We need the help of the public to help catch those responsible and I would urge anyone who has seen or heard anything suspicious to get in touch through the 101 number."
