Police investigating the death of a man after a road crash in the Scottish Borders have appealed for help from anyone who saw a blue BMW in the area.

Oliver Eaton was travelling east when his blue Audi A3 hit a tree on the A721 near Kirkdean in Peeblesshire on Sunday.

The 26-year-old suffered fatal injuries in the crash and he later died at the Royal Infimary in Edinburgh.

Police want anyone who saw the BMW or the Audi S3 in Peebleshire on Sunday night to come forward.

They know Mr Eaton, from Peebles, had also travelled along the A702 from West Linton before the accident happened at 21:50.

Sgt Neil Inglis said: "Our inquiries are continuing and we are trying to establish the full set of circumstances.

"I would encourage anyone who was travelling on the A702 or A721 at around 21:50 or shortly beforehand on Sunday to contact us immediately if they witnessed either of these vehicles."
