A 24-year-old man from Kirkintilloch has been identified as the victim of a road crash in Dumfries and Galloway at the weekend.

Calum McMorrin died in the incident on the A710 at Mainsriddle, near Southerness, at about 15:10 on Sunday.

He was travelling on a Yamaha motorbike when it was involved in a collision with a BMW.

Emergency services were sent to the incident but Mr McMorrin was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 39-year-old woman who was driving the BMW was uninjured.

Sgt Paul Dodds, of Police Scotland, asked anyone who was in the area or witnessed the crash to contact the police.

"I would also appeal to anyone who was travelling on the A710 prior to the collision occurring who has a dash-cam fitted to their vehicle, to contact us as this may also help us establish the circumstances which led to the crash," he said.
