Family escape from Peebles house blaze

A family - including a baby - have escaped injury after fire broke out in the early hours of the morning in their Scottish Borders home.

Emergency services were called to the blaze in the Bridgegate in Peebles at about 02:50.

Firefighters using breathing apparatus were able to extinguish the fire.

The baby was checked over by ambulance staff for suspected smoke inhalation but did not require hospital treatment.
