Police appeal over Ancrum hay field fire

Police have appealed for information after a hay field in a Scottish Borders village was set on fire.

The incident happened at West Mains Farm in Ancrum between 20:00 and 22:50 on Tuesday.

The blaze was spotted by a passer-by who reported it to a farm worker and it was tackled before it damaged a nearby combine harvester.

Police are keen to speak to the man who saw the fire and have asked him to contact them.

They have also asked anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour in the area to get in touch.
