The Met Office has amended the area across southern and eastern Scotland likely to be affected by summer storms.

The yellow "be aware" alert is valid until 02:00 on Thursday.

An initial warning covered much of Dumfries and Galloway but it has now been confined more to the Borders and the Lothians.

The Met Office said rain, heavy and thundery at times, would affect parts of southern Scotland but the most severe storms would affect England.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency has issued flood alerts for Ayrshire and Arran, Dumfries and Galloway, the Borders, Fife, Edinburgh and the Lothians and west central Scotland.
