Man in hospital following Ettrickbridge stand-off

A man is in hospital after an incident which saw police seal off a Borders village on Thursday night.

Police, ambulance and fire services were called out to a property in Ettrickbridge.

It is understood that a man was taken to Borders General Hospital following a stand-off.

Police thanked local residents for their patience while officers dealt with the incident and asked anyone with information to contact them.

A spokesman said: "We were called to an address in Ettrickbridge, near Selkirk on Thursday following a report of concern for a person within.

"Specialist and local emergency resources were deployed in the area to maintain public and officer safety.

"A 39-year-old man is currently in hospital for assessment."
