Earlston businesses targeted by thieves
Thieves have struck at a butchers and a bakers in a town in the Scottish Borders.
The thefts happened at premises on the High Street in Earlston overnight between Wednesday and Thursday.
A three-figure sum of cash was stolen from the Bakehouse while power tools were taken from a garage at Walter Donaldson and Son's butcher shop.
Police said inquiries were ongoing to establish if the two offences were linked.
Det Sgt Stevie Halls said: "Given the proximity of both businesses we believe the same individuals may be responsible.
"Anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity around Earlston High Street on Wednesday night or Thursday morning should contact police immediately.
"In addition, anyone who can help us identify the culprits is also urged to get in touch."
