A violent offender who absconded from an open prison three weeks ago has been found at a house in Glasgow.

Ian McDonald, 28, failed to return to Castle Huntly open prison, near Dundee, on 15 December 2010 after being allowed out temporarily.

He was jailed for four years in April 2009 after carrying out a serious assault, and police had warned the public not to approach him.

McDonald is expected to appear at Perth Sheriff Court on Friday.
