Driver killed after car hits tree at Loch Rannoch

A man has died after his sports car crashed into a tree beside Loch Rannoch in Perth and Kinross.

Emergency services were called to the accident, on the B846 Kinloch Rannoch to Rannoch Station road, at about 1910 GMT on Sunday.

The black hard-topped Mazda MX3 had been travelling west along the north side of the loch when it left the road and collided with a tree.

The driver, who was alone in the car, died at the scene.

The road was closed to allow investigations to take place.

Tayside Police are appealing for anyone who saw the Mazda being driven in the area or who saw the vehicle at the crash site, where it may have appeared to have been parked on the loch side of the road, to contact them.
