Woman's sex deceit charges dropped

A woman accused of conning other women into having sex with her by pretending to be a man will not stand trial.

Samantha Brooks, 26, faced charges of fraud - alleging she went to extreme lengths to fool partners into believing she was a man.

Ms Brooks had been expected to appear at the High Court in Edinburgh for a hearing to discuss trial arrangements.

But the case did not call and court officials confirmed that the charges had been dropped.

Ms Brooks, from Bridge of Earn in Perthshire, was being held on remand in Cornton Vale.

She had earlier denied charges of fraud and assault at various addresses in the UK.

The Crown Office could still raise a fresh indictment, court officials said.
