Jewellery worth more than £20,000 has been stolen from a house in Dundee.

Tayside Police said the break-in happened in the city's Bingham Terrace sometime between 0645 GMT and 1700 GMT on Tuesday.

The householder's blue Alfa Romeo was also taken but later found abandoned in Fleming Gardens South.

The stolen jewellery included a gold engagement ring set with three diamonds, a vintage ivory butterfly necklace and a heart signet ring.

Also taken was a ruby stone gold brooch, a bow-shaped sapphire and diamond ring and a Russian three-part ring made with yellow, rose and white gold.

The thieves also stole a blue velvet jewellery box.

Police have appealed for anyone who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in the area to come forward.
