Pensioner rescued from Broughty Ferry flat blaze

Firefighters have rescued a pensioner from a blaze in sheltered accommodation near Dundee.

The alarm was raised shortly after 0400 GMT after the fire started at the flat in Spence Gardens, Broughty Ferry.

Tayside Fire Service said 29 firefighters and six appliances had been sent to deal with the blaze.

The rescued pensioner was treated at the scene by paramedics. The fire was contained in the flat and extinguished before 0530 GMT.
