Boy, 9, seriously injured in A90 crash near Forfar

A nine-year-old boy suffered life-threatening injures in a car crash in Angus, police have said.

The child was in a Ford Focus travelling on the A90 when the vehicle left the road and rolled down an embankment.

The crash happened at Birkenbush, near Forfar, at about 1930 BST on Thursday.

Tayside Police said the boy, who was a rear seat passenger, and three other people were taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

The force said the casualties are from Peterhead in Aberdeenshire.

The boy suffered two punctured lungs and serious leg injuries, and his condition was described as serious.

His mother, 39, was trapped in the vehicle for 40 minutes and sustained back injuries.

Her 17-year-old daughter and a 19-year-old man were treated for minor injuries and have been discharged from hospital.

Tayside Police appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them.
