Angus Council HQ's electrical faults probed by police

An investigation has been launched into what has been described as "suspicious" electrical faults at the Angus Council buildings in Forfar.

Tayside Police said the faults had resulted in damage to plugs and sockets and were initially unexplained.

A number of incidents from April are now being investigated in a joint probe with Tayside Fire and Rescue Service.

Police have appealed to anyone with information about the damage to contact them.

Det Insp Ally Waghorn, who is leading the investigation, said: ''Although the damage identified is relatively minor and no one has been injured as a consequence of this incidents, the potential for harm and indeed significant damage is clear.

"I would appeal to anyone who can assist us with our enquiries to get in touch with us.''

Detectives said they would be speaking to staff and visitors to the council building during their investigation.
