T in the Park rape and abduction charges dropped
Rape and abduction charges against a Peebles man at the T in Park festival in 2010 have been dropped.
Finlay Barber was accused of committing the offences against an 18-year-old woman at the music festival at Balado near Kinross, Perthshire, last July.
A Crown Office spokesman said that after consideration of the case and available evidence, it had been decided to discontinue proceedings.
Mr Barber appeared in court last year and was released on bail.
The Crown Office spokesman said: "The procurator fiscal in Perth received a report relating to Finlay Euan Barber in connection with an alleged incident occurring between 11 and 12 July, 2010.
"As a result, proceedings were raised at Perth Sheriff Court, and he appeared on petition on 30 July, 2010 charged with rape and abduction.
"He made no plea or declaration and was released on bail. As with any case, the Crown has an ongoing duty to keep cases under review.
"Following full and careful consideration of all of the facts and circumstances in the case including the available evidence, Crown Counsel decided to discontinue those proceedings."
