Polish woman dies after stabbing in Perth home

A mother who died in hospital after being attacked in her home had been stabbed almost 20 times.

The 28-year-old Polish woman was attacked with a knife and killed while her children, aged five and two, were in the house.

A 38-year-old man, who is also believed to be Polish, has been arrested in connection with the incident in Perth on Thursday evening.

Police were called to the Firbank Road flat after reports of a disturbance.

When they arrived, officers and ambulance staff discovered a seriously injured woman who had sustained numerous stab wounds.

The woman, who has not been named by police, was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, but died a short time later.

Her details are not being released until she has been formally identified and next of kin have been fully informed.

The address was cordoned off to allow inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident to be carried out and a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Tayside Police said their inquiries were continuing.
