Angus lifeboats rescue stranded dog walker

A walker who attempted to find his dog after it went off a cliff ended up stranded on rocks with his pet and had to be rescued.

The man had gone for a late evening walk on cliffs near Arbroath in Angus when he became cut off by the tide.

Forth Coastguard said it was alerted by a friend of the man at about 0024 BST.

Two lifeboats from Arbroath and a coastguard team from Carnoustie helped rescue the man, who was taken to a waiting ambulance.

The coastguard said the man did not to go to hospital. His dog was taken to a vet for a check-up.
