'Despicable' vandals hit Denny cemetery

Vandals have damaged 20 headstones in a "despicable" attack at a cemetery in Denny, Falkirk

The headstones, which were about 100 years old, were pushed over, with two of them breaking as a result.

Central Scotland Police said the vandalism took place between 1600 BST on 30 June and 1200 BST on 1 July.

Visitors to the cemetery, near Denny High School, who witnessed any suspicious activity have been asked to contact the police.

A police spokeswoman said: "These headstones were very large and were around 100 years old. Two of the headstones have been broken as a result of being pushed over and they date back to 1914.

"This has been a despicable act and we appeal for anyone with information to come forward."
