Four large 1960s tower blocks that used to house hundreds of families have been demolished in the Hilltown area of Dundee.

People in 600 homes and 50 businesses were evacuated from the area while the demolitions were carried out.

The Maxwelltown, Carnegie, Jamaica and Wellington flats on Alexander Street were brought down by controlled explosions.

The sites of the multi-storey buildings will be used for regeneration projects.

The city council set up a large exclusion zone and closed nearby roads in the area, including Alexander Street, for several hours.
