Gleneagles greenkeeper caught snorting cocaine

A greenkeeper is facing the sack from Gleneagles after he was spotted snorting cocaine in a village hall.

Douglas Croll, from Auchterarder, admitted possessing cocaine at Blackford Village Hall and was fined £500.

He had been reported to police when he was seen taking the drug on 16 April. Police arrived and found him with more than two grams of cocaine.

The 22-year-old told Perth Sheriff Court he would expect to be sacked.

Croll, who was not present in court, submitted a letter in which he expressed concern about losing his job.

He added: "I am writing to say that I accept the punishment that I am facing as I know my actions were wrong and stupid."
