Planning consent has been granted for a multi-million pound business park in Arbroath.

Angus Council said it had a 12-year plan for the site which would potentially generate about 1,000 new jobs for the area.

There will be about 28 plots available for industrial, manufacturing, storage or distribution businesses.

The 14-hectare park will be built to the west of the town's Elliot Industrial Estate.

The council is planning a second round of development at the site in about 10 years.

David Fairweather, vice-convener of the authority's infrastructure services committee, said: "It would be a great boost for Arbroath, offering a supply of business land in the town for the next 20 years, opening up the potential for businesses expansion and new investment in the area."
