Man charged over £1m Plean drugs find

A man has appeared in court after police recovered drugs with a potential street value of up to £1m.

A total of 8.5kg (18.7lb) of uncut amphetamine were discovered at an address in Plean.

Hugh Thomson, who is 51 and from Stirling, made no plea or declaration during a private hearing at the town's sheriff court.

A 51-year-old woman, who was reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with the find, did not appear in court.

Central Scotland Police said bulking agent was also recovered from a van stopped in the Lochearnhead area.

Mr Thomson faces two charges of being concerned in the supply of drugs.

A spokesman for the Crown Office said: "We can confirm that the procurator fiscal at Stirling received a report concerning a 51-year-old female in connection with an incident on September 8.

"After full and careful consideration by the procurator fiscal, the individual was liberated pending further investigation and did not appear in court in relation to this matter."
