A prisoner who absconded from an open jail near Dundee a week ago has been found by police.

Samuel Boyle Stewart, 47, failed to return to Castle Huntly prison on 14 September after being granted home leave in Edinburgh.

Tayside Police said he had now been found in the city and arrested.

Stewart, who was convicted of a serious assault in August 2009, is expected to appear from custody at Perth Sheriff Court on Thursday.

He was transferred to Castle Huntly from HMP Edinburgh earlier this year.
