A prisoner who went on the run from Castle Huntly jail has been traced, police have confirmed.

Thomas McGarva failed to return to the prison on 21 September after a week's home leave in Falkirk.

The 33-year-old is serving a 32-month sentence after being convicted of assault and robbery in June 2010.

He was found in Glasgow city centre on Wednesday by Tayside Police officers and is expected to appear at Perth Sheriff Court later.
