Leisure resort Crieff Hydro has put forward a plan for a £100m expansion.

The Perthshire hotel complex is hoping to build 200 lodges and a 100-bed care home at a site west of Gilmerton near the A85.

An application for the development was submitted to Perth and Kinross Council in August.

Crieff Hydro Ltd said 100 new jobs could be created if the proposals go ahead. A public consultation will be launched soon.

As well as the lodges and the care home, the company also wants to build leisure facilities, a retail area, cafe and farm shop.

A spokeswoman said: "Initial proposals remain under development. Prior to any actual planning application, the process dictates that we undertake a public consultation on any plans by mid-November.

"The purpose of public consultations is to encourage communications and open relationships between developers and communities - making the planning process more open and inclusive - something that Crieff Hydro are fully committed to."
