Dundee vandal gang seen with metal poles

Police are hunting a gang who are believed to have run through Dundee smashing cars with metal poles.

Dozens of youths - male and female - were seen shouting and running through the Fintry area on Thursday evening carrying the poles.

Three cars had windows smashed in Fintry crescent between 20:40 and 20:50.

Tayside Police said officers had also discovered that a bus stop in the area had been vandalised.

A blue Volkswagen estate, green Ford Focus and red Kangoo van all had windows smashed in the attack.

A spokesman for the force said: ''This disgraceful behaviour will not be tolerated. Those responsible need to realise that it is law abiding Dundee residents who are left to foot the bill for their small-minded actions.

"We will do everything in our power to trace those responsible and hold them to account and we would encourage the community to help us in this regard."

The spokesman said extra officers on high visibility patrols were being sent to the area.

He added: ''At the same time, Tayside Police appeals to parents to take responsibility and find out what their children are up to. Don't simply accept that they are going out for the evening and be oblivious to what they are doing."
