Elton John to play Falkirk Stadium gig
Elton John has announced he will play at Falkirk Stadium as part of his 2012 UK summer tour.
The singer will perform for one night at the home of Falkirk Football Club on 10 June.
His stage show, which lasts for two hours, is expected to include classic hits such as Bennie and The Jets, Crocodile Rock and Your Song.
Falkirk FC said Elton John would be the first artist to perform at the stadium, which opened in July 2003.
The musician said: "My first Scottish gigs were in 1971 - 40 years ago - when I played Stirling University, Strathclyde University and Dunfermline Kinema.
"But I've never played Falkirk until now and it's high time I did - I'm really looking forward to playing at the stadium. And I hope Falkirk FC soon makes it back into the Scottish Premier League."
Elton John played his 3,000th live concert in October this year.
Falkirk FC Director Andy Thomson said: "This is not only a huge first for Falkirk Football Club but as a community club it is a first for the town as well.
We are absolutely delighted that Elton John has agreed to include the Falkirk Stadium as part of his tour and I am sure the people of Falkirk will be delighted to welcome one of the biggest artists in the world."
Tickets for this show will go on sale on Friday.
