Thieves have stolen almost £10,000 of Christmas presents and valuables - including an 18 carat gold wedding ring - from a home in Broughty Ferry.

The break-in at the house in Chestnut Green took place between 08:20 and 17:50 on Monday.

The items stolen included a 40in TV, an Apple iPad2, a Compaq laptop and a Nintendo DS.

As well as the wedding ring, a sapphire and diamond engagement ring was also taken from the home.

Tayside Police said it was similar in design to the one worn by Princess Diana and now the Duchess of Cambridge.

The thieves also stole an 18 carat gold diamond ring and a second engagement ring made with 18 carat gold, sapphire and diamonds.

Other items taken included a gents' Tissot watch, a ladies' Hot Diamonds watch, gift vouchers, Ugg boots, two Apple iPod Classics, a Bose Sound dock and various other electrical items.

Detectives have appealed to anyone with information about the theft to contact them.
