Police are hunting a prisoner who has failed to return to Castle Huntly jail.

Peter Mowat, 44, from Glasgow, who is serving a five-year-sentence for firearms offences, was transferred to the open prison last month.

He failed to return to the prison on Sunday after being granted a week's home leave.

Police are appealing for information. Mowat was described as 5ft 10in with short black hair and brown eyes.
