Man seriously injured in New Year's Day attack in Perth

Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious assault in Perth in the early hours of New Year's Day.

Tayside officers said there was a fight between two men near Gleneagles Road in the Craigie area at about 05:40.

One of them was seriously injured as a result, although his condition is no longer life threatening.

The suspect was aged about 30, and was 5ft 7in, slim, had dark eyebrows and was wearing a grey hooded top.

A police spokesman said there was a possibility that items may have been discarded by the person responsible as he left the scene.

If any member of the public discovers any article that is bloodstained they should not touch it but should note its location and notify Tayside Police immediately.
