A977 fatal tanker driver named by police

The driver of an oil tanker who died after a crash with a van on Monday has been named by police.

Alan Robertson, 63, of Broomlands Road, Cumbernauld, had been driving along the A977 Kincardine to Kinross road at Drum when his tanker was in collision with a Mercedes Sprinter van.

The crash happened at about 16:30 on Monday.

The 24-year-old van driver was taken to Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline with minor injuries and later released.

The tanker's trailer ended up on its side and the cab broke free and ended up in a field.

Mr Robertson died at the scene.
