Boy seriously injured after being hit by car in Dundee

A 10-year-old boy is in hospital with serious leg injuries after being hit by a car in Dundee.

The boy was knocked down by a white BMW while running across the A923 High Street, Lochee, at about 17:30 on Monday.

Tayside Police said he was crossing the road from the north, near its junction with Loons Road, when he was struck by the car driving out of the city.

Officers closed the road after the incident to examine the scene.

A police spokesman said: "The boy was wearing light coloured trousers and a dark jacket and was seen running in the area immediately before crossing the road.

"Officers are appealing for anyone who saw the incident or who was in the area and may have seen the boy or the vehicle immediately beforehand to contact Tayside Police on 0300 111 2222 or speak to any police officer."
