Man dragged woman in Clydebank robbery bid

A 76-year-old woman was knocked to the ground by a man who attempted to steal her bag as she left a health centre, police have said.

The woman was in the Clydebank Health Centre car park, near West Thomson Street, at about 13:25 on Friday when the man attacked her.

Police said the woman was dragged along the ground as the man attempted to snatch her handbag.

She suffered minor injuries and bruising during the assault.

The suspect was described as white, in his early 20s and between 5ft 10in and 6ft. He has a medium build, short fair hair and was wearing a light coloured top and trousers.

DC Iain Lobban said: "It's unthinkable that someone would target an elderly lady in this way, the person responsible is despicable and I'm sure the majority of people would hold him in contempt.

"I would appeal to anyone who may have any information about the suspect to please provide that information to us."
