Man quizzed over Perth pedestrian death
An 81-year-old man is being questioned by police after a woman was hit by a car and killed in Perth.
The woman - believed to be in her 30s - was walking in Jeanfield Road when a red car was seen to mount the pavement and hit her.
She was taken to hospital with serious head injuries but did not survive.
Tayside Police said a red Toyota Corolla matching the description of the car that hit her was found elsewhere in Perth.
An 81-year-old man was "assisting police with inquiries", a spokesman for the force said.
The woman, who has not been named, was walking near the junction with Cornhill Road and Burghmuir Road at about 10:15 when the incident happened.
She was taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
The road has been closed to allow crash investigators to work at the scene.
Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
