Man in court charged with attempted murder in Perth
A man has appeared in court accused of trying to murder a man in Perth city centre while Christmas shoppers made their way home.
Jamie McLean, also known as Kennedy, appeared on a petition at Perth Sheriff Court charged with attempting to murder Samuel Townsley in Perth on Monday.
He made no plea or declaration and the case was continued for further examination.
The-26-year old was remanded in custody.
Mr McLean is alleged to have tried to murder Mr Townsley, 21, by stabbing him in the city centre shortly before 17:00 on 3 December.
A section of the Old High Street was sealed off on Monday evening after Mr Townsley was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment.
Tayside Police officers carried out a fingertip search of an area close to the Caledonian Bar and nearby shop staff were questioned over the incident.
The street lies next to a major car park and was busy with people returning to their vehicles from the city centre shops when the incident occurred.
