A man has been airlifted to hospital following a crash on the M9 motorway in Stirlingshire.

Central Scotland Police said a car left the southbound carriageway near Dunblane, just before 15:00.

A police spokesman said a 29-year-old man had been taken by air ambulance to Glasgow's Southern General with serious injuries.

The M9 had been closed in both directions between Junctions 10 and 11, but has now reopened.

Officers appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
