Teenage girl sexually assaulted in woods in Dundee

Police in Dundee are carrying out door-to-door inquires after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted in the city.

The 16-year-old was attacked at about 23:20 in a small wooded area on South Road in the Charleston area of the city on Wednesday night.

Officers said the man then ran off towards Menzieshill leaving his victim uninjured but extremely distressed.

Tayside Police said a forensic examination of the scene was also being carried out.

The girl's attacker is described as smelling dirty, in his 20s, 5ft 10in tall, stocky, with a Dundee accent.

He was wearing a black hooded top, black trousers and black-coloured shoes.

Tayside Police said they were also reviewing footage from local CCTV cameras.

The force is appealing for anyone who was in the area or who has information that could assist with their inquiries to contact them.
