M9 pedestrian death: Police appeal for witnesses

Police have made a fresh appeal for information after the death of a pedestrian hit by a van on a motorway.

The 49-year-old man was fatally injured in a collision with a Ford Transit van on the northbound carriageway of the M9 near Dunblane at about 20:25 on Monday.

It has come to light that he was in Glenochil village and the Menstrie area earlier in the day and was later seen in Bridge of Allan, police said.

Anyone who may have seen the pedestrian has been urged to contact them.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Information has come to light that prior to the collision the pedestrian was in Glenochil Village and in the Menstrie area of Clackmannanshire and had later been seen in Bridge of Allan between 15:50 and 19:05.

"He has then made his way to the M9 at around 20:35 on Monday evening when the collision occurred.

"Any person who saw a middle-aged, unaccompanied male in dark clothing between those times are urged to contact the police."

The identity of the man will not be released until next of kin have been informed.
