Police appeal after woman sexually assaulted in Falkirk

Police have appealed for information after a woman was sexually assaulted on a street in Falkirk.

The attack happened in the Callendar Park View area of the town in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Detectives said they were trying to trace a man in his 40s, with a heavy build and a bald or shaved head. He was wearing blue jeans and a light-coloured long-sleeved jumper.

Extra officers have been on patrol and witnesses were urged to come forward.

Det Insp Hugh Louden said: "This is a very unusual occurrence and I would like to reassure local people that Police Scotland are conducting a thorough investigation and that additional officers are carrying out extra patrols in the area to keep people safe.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Callendar Park View in the early hours of this morning and who saw anything suspicious, or recognises the description of the man, to call us."
