Police have called off an investigation into a reported rape in Stirling.

A major inquiry was launched after a report of a serious sexual assault on a 19-year-old woman in an underpass at the Customs Roundabout in the early hours of Monday.

However the complaint has since been withdrawn and police are no longer seeking to trace anyone in connection.

A spokesman said there had been no risk to the public, and thanked local residents for their help in the matter.
