Man jailed for scarring girlfriend found dead

A 37-year-old man jailed earlier this year for scarring his girlfriend for life has been found dead.

Craig Smith had been released from prison after serving half of a 10-month sentence imposed upon him in January.

His body was discovered at an address in Perth on Wednesday and a police investigation has been launched into the circumstances of his death.

He was jailed for scarring Alana Brown for life after smashing a teacup on her head after she took a sip of his beer.

Perth Sheriff Court had been told that the couple had been introduced by friends and had only been dating for four months at the time of the attack.
