Scottish referendum: First Yes result declared in Dundee

Dundee has become the first council area to vote "Yes" in the Scottish independence referendum.

There were 93,592 votes cast in the city, with 57% favouring independence.

A total of 53,620 people voted "Yes", with 39,880 saying "No". The turnout was 79% with 92 rejected ballot papers.

Clackmannanshire was the first council to declare its result earlier on Friday morning with people there voting "No" by 54% to 46%.
