Firefighters spent nine hours battling a blaze in a barn containing 300 bales of hay at a Perthshire farm.

The alarm was raised after the fire broke out in a large shed at Pittendynie Farm, near Perth, at 21:39 on Tuesday.

Three appliances from Perth, one from Dunkeld and one from Perth were sent to the scene, along with two command support units from Dundee.

They managed to bring the "well developed" fire under control by 07:00.

Along with a large quantity of round bales, a mechanical excavator was also caught up in the blaze.

Firefighters remained on the scene for some time dampening down and monitoring the area.
