Police have issued a CCTV image in the hunt for a man who carried out an armed robbery bid at a Dundee petrol station.

The man threatened a member of staff at the Shell petrol station on Forfar Road at about 21:50 on Tuesday, 7 October.

The image shows the distinctive dark hooded jacket with grey sleeves that the man was wearing.

Police hope it will help identify the raider, who made off empty-handed in the direction of either Linlathen or the Kingsway.

Det Insp Andy Patrick said: "This was a particularly alarming crime, but fortunately no-one was injured.

"We are asking the public for their assistance in identifying this distinctive hooded jacket and encourage them to contact us immediately if they know of anyone who wears this item.

"Any information that can be provided about the jacket, such as the possible brand of clothing or where it can be purchased, would also be extremely helpful to the inquiry."

The man was described as being 5ft 7in tall and in his late 20s. He was also wearing dark jeans and gloves.
