Police are investigating a serious assault after a 29-year-old man was attacked in a Stenhousemuir street.

The victim was walking on Gladstone Road, off Tryst Road, at about 23:10 on Wednesday night when he was assaulted.

He was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital with facial injuries.

Officers are looking for two men, one of whom was aged between 21 and 40, about 5ft 10in tall, with receding fair hair. He was wearing a grey T-shirt and jeans and spoke with a local accent.

The victim had been at a town centre pub, and was attacked on Gladstone Road, near the Ochilview Park home of Stenhousemuir FC, after leaving a local takeaway.

Insp John Kellett said: "This was an unprovoked attack on a man who was on his way home and not causing any disturbance to the public.

"We are eager to talk to anyone who may have witnessed this attack or may recognise the description offered."
